Quilter has acquired fintech business NuWealth as part of our commitment to enhance our digital capabilities to better support our customers and advisers.

As client expectations around digital engagement evolve, robust digital solutions are key to reducing the advice gap and enabling advisers to reach and support a wider set of clients.

NuWealth is a growing player in the FinTech industry, offering innovative investment and savings solutions. As we scale our platform and user base, we are looking for a DevOps Engineer to optimize, secure, and maintain our AWS infrastructure. This role is crucial in ensuring the scalability, stability, and security of our platform while preparing for future growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • AWS Infrastructure Management:
    Design, implement, and maintain AWS infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, and scalability. Manage key services like EC2, S3, RDS, and ECS.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform:
    Develop and manage Terraform modules to provision and maintain AWS resources. All infrastructure configurations must be modular, version-controlled, and designed for reusability.
  • Continuous Integration & Deployment (CI/CD):
    Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, and CodeDeploy, ensuring reliable and automated deployment processes.
  • Monitoring & Incident Response:
    Set up and manage AWS monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and X-Ray to track performance, usage, and health. Implement incident response processes to minimize downtime and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Security & Compliance:
    Enforce AWS security best practices, including IAM role management, Security Group configurations, and data encryption. Regularly review infrastructure to maintain compliance with industry standards.
  • Disaster Recovery & High Availability:
    Design disaster recovery strategies using AWS-native solutions like EBS snapshots, RDS backups, and cross-region replication. Ensure robust failover mechanisms and multi-AZ deployments to maintain platform availability.
  • Cost Optimization:
    Analyze and optimize AWS resource usage to reduce costs without compromising performance. Use tools such as AWS Cost Explorer and AWS Trusted Advisor to identify and implement cost-saving opportunities.
  • Collaboration with Backend Team:
    Partner closely with backend engineers to align infrastructure with application needs. Provide solutions that support development and deployment workflows efficiently.

About You

Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    • 5+ years of experience in DevOps, with a strong focus on managing AWS infrastructure.
    • Proven expertise with Terraform is a hard requirement. Candidates must demonstrate advanced proficiency in writing, maintaining, and optimizing Terraform modules for production-grade environments.
    • Deep understanding of AWS services, including EC2, S3, RDS, ECS, and VPC networking.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Experience in containerization and orchestration with Docker and Amazon ECS.
    • Hands-on experience in setting up and managing monitoring and alerting systems using AWS-native tools.
  • Security Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of AWS security best practices, such as IAM policies, VPC security, and AWS Key Management Service (KMS) for encryption and key management.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing infrastructure challenges.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Nice to Have:
  • Experience setting up VPN endpoints and networks using Terraform.
  • Familiarity with advanced AWS networking configurations, such as Transit Gateways and hybrid cloud setups.
