At Kerridge Commercial Systems (KCS), the DevOps Engineer is central to our mission of harmonizing software development and IT operations, underpinning our cloud-first strategy with a focus on Azure cloud services. This role is not just about maintaining systems but innovating and optimising our cloud infrastructure to support agile development and operational resilience. You will leverage your expertise in cloud computing, automation, and continuous delivery to architect solutions that enhance our product offerings, streamline workflows, and ensure the scalability and security of our applications.

Drawing from a solid background in Azure services, CI/CD methodologies, and system monitoring, you will lead the charge in automating deployment processes, enhancing system performance, and ensuring robust security measures are in place. Your role is pivotal in creating a seamless, automated, and highly resilient infrastructure that supports rapid development cycles and provides a stable, scalable platform for our ERP solutions.

With a keen eye on the latest technological advancements and a passion for excellence, you will drive continuous improvement across our cloud infrastructure, contributing significantly to the strategic direction of KCS. Your expertise will not only support but also inspire innovation within the team, fostering a culture of excellence and forward-thinking that positions KCS as a leader in digital transformation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cloud Infrastructure Development: Design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure on Microsoft Azure, focusing on scalability, security, and reliability.
  • CI/CD Pipeline Construction: Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, and other automation tools, reducing deployment times and increasing deployment frequency.
  • Scripting and Automation: Utilise scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python to automate deployment, monitoring, and management tasks.
  • Containerization and Orchestration: Deploy and manage containerized applications, where appropriate, improving system resilience and resource efficiency.
  • Monitoring and Optimization: Implement system monitoring to ensure optimal performance, swiftly address potential issues and identify opportunities for cost optimisation.
  • Security Best Practices: Collaborate with the security team to enforce security policies, perform vulnerability assessments, and respond to incidents to protect against threats.
  • Technical Collaboration: Work closely with software developers, IT operations staff, and project managers to ensure a seamless, efficient development pipeline that aligns with organizational goals.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Solid experience with Azure services, including compute, networking, storage, and security.
  • Proficient in implementing CI/CD pipelines and in the use of automation and orchestration tools.
  • Experience of working with/optimising relational database systems.
  • Understanding of container technologies and orchestration platforms.
  • Knowledge of scripting for automation of cloud operations.
  • Experience with system monitoring tools and an understanding of security practices related to cloud infrastructure.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, work with multiple teams to help deliver and spread understanding of cloud infrastructure design.
