Azure Cloud Engineer (Night Shifts)

About the Role
Deerfoot Recruitment are working with an exciting client involved in a major £1.2B cloud-based supercomputing project with Microsoft. This is a unique opportunity for an Azure Cloud Engineer to contribute to a critical infrastructure programme.
The role involves working on the Microsoft Azure platform, supporting supercomputing services, and troubleshooting issues across cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have experience in Azure administration, 1st/2nd line support, and working within an ITIL framework.
This position requires primarily night shift work (approx. 10.30pm – 7am), including weekends and bank holidays, and candidates must be eligible for SC clearance (UK residency of the last 5 years).
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide Azure platform support and monitor alerts
- Diagnose and resolve platform faults
- Manage incidents and ensure timely resolutions in line with SLAs
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to find solutions
- Contribute to improvements in tools, processes, and support efficiency
- Work on Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code
Required Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience with Azure cloud administration and support
- Strong troubleshooting and incident management skills
- Familiarity with Azure services (Compute, Storage, Networking)
- Experience with monitoring tools (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, KQL)
- Experience working 1st and 2nd line support responding and triaging incidents against strict SLOs
- Knowledge of Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, Terraform, and PowerShell
- ITIL v4 knowledge (incident, change, problem management)
- Ability to work under pressure and handle high-stress situations
- Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)
Desirable:
- Windows Server, Linux (Red Hat), and Networking knowledge
- Azure Security Engineer (AZ-500), ITIL v4
